Wrinkles and Pores
September 8, 2008

Wrinkles and pores are removed from skin wuth the help of creams, lotions and potions, abrasives and peels and for permanent result by plastic surgery.

It is pretty disheartening to look in the mirror and see either wrinkles or large pores staring back at you. It is even worse if you see both!! Visible wrinkles and pores are skin conditions which occur naturally, more for some than others. The incidence and severity will determine what you do about them, but if they truly bother you and have a negative effect on your overall sense of well-being and your lifestyle, then, by all means, you must do something.

Human skin is permeable – this means, things can go in and out of it, sort of like cheesecloth. It has millions of tiny holes called pores, important little holes that allow oil to be secreted onto the skin from the lower dermis layer. These oils act as a protection for the skin, and it is important to have them continually flowing. Sweat is also excreted by the same pores, and this operation is critical to keeping the body temperature cooled during heat-causing activity or temperatures. Pores also accept outside substances, like lotions and creams and medications. Unfortunately, because pores do not discriminate, they also accept dirt, pollutants, bacteria, etc. – not so nice for your skin.

Pores on the face are larger than on other parts of the body. They have a definite size and can actually be measured. For fortunate people, the pores remain small throughout their lives, and they do not have to deal with seeing large opening on their facial skin. For others, pores become larger as a child grows into adolescence, and so the chance to trap dirt and other yucky stuff is greater. Larger pores, and the entrapment of dirt and bacteria, are one of the many factors of adolescent acne in fact. Large pores are unsightly because they create a rather coarse look to the skin, and are seen as serious imperfections to some.

Wrinkles also have definite size. Not like pores, however, wrinkles are not opening of the skin. They are lines or crevices in the skin that occur as people age. Factors in wrinkling are sun exposure, laughing and frowning, and, probably most important, the loss of collagen production as the body ages. Wrinkles usually develop around the eyes and mouth, between the eyebrows, and on the neck, but can actually occur anywhere on exposed parts of the body.

So, who wants wrinkles and pores? Given a choice, no one. So, the sufferer will want to explore the numerous treatments for these, and there are many!

Creams, lotions and potions: Any drug store has shelves of product available for you to buy and try. Some of these products purport to puff up the skin, causing reduced visibility of wrinkles and pores. Certainly, many of these products do just that, and an individual who is willing to continue their use indefinitely will choose this type of treatment. It is usually the least expensive and easiest to apply.

Abrasives and Peels: These are a bit more severe than creams and lotions. Abrasives are products with tiny bits of sand or other rough ingredient. When you scrub your face with these, the old dead cells are removed more thoroughly and deeply than they would be with normal face-washing. Wrinkles and pores both are more visible when dead cells are present all around them, so this is an effective temporary treatment. Again, these must be used regularly to keep those dead cells off. Skin peels do the same basic thing. They are usually made of fruit acids, applied to the skin, and, after they have dried, are then washed off. The washing off removes the peel product as well as lots of dead skin cells, so, again, you get the result of smoother skin.

Some people want more permanent results and will see a dermatologist or plastic surgeon for one of many treatments. There is a dermabrasion available which literally sands off your skin to remove wrinkles and pores. This requires lots of recovery time, because your skin is actually sanded raw. Results, however, are pretty dramatic. Other forms of plastic surgery are also used, most of which have great results if performed by board certified plastic surgeons.

Whatever your wrinkle and pore problem, know that you have lots of company. Use a remedy which gets you the results you want, so long as you have the budget to allow it.
