Baby Acne
March 12, 2010

Baby acne is due to hormones which enter the body of baby before their birth and comes on skin after one month of their birth.

A new born baby with white skin, pink cheeks and re pimples is not a sight that many parents are happy with. These tiny red pimples are also widely called as Baby acne. Baby acne is a common problem that occurs due to the bond between the mother and child inside the womb.

The mother feeds all that she can to her child via the umbilical cord when the baby is within her womb. This is a time, when a lot of nutrients, good thoughts, vital anti bodies etc are passed on to the kid and the child grows up into a good and healthy human being. Sometime the mother’s hormones which cause acne are also passed on to the kid.

These hormones enter the child before birth and mature round about a month after birth. The first signs of baby acne appear round about the time the baby is a month plus old. This acne is just red bumps on the face. Many people often misunderstand them as rashes too.

The only way to find out if it’s a rash or acne is to take your child to a doctor. The doctor will be able to tell the difference between both keeping the time of first appearance and the way it looks in mind. There is nothing to worry about with regards to baby acne. Rashes can be itchy and will need immediate care but baby acne is harmless. They appear and then will disappear after a week or a few months. The doctors won’t prescribe any medicines; you can wash your child’s face a few times daily with the help of baby soap or some natural ingredients like gram flour etc.

This is a disorder which is passed on from the mother to the child. It is not a communicable disease and you won’t need to keep your child in isolation etc. A regular life with the same familiar faces around will make the child enjoy life and feel more happy and secure. When they are happy and secure they will recover faster from any problem whether it is big or small.

Baby acne comes at a time when the child is at a stage in his life, when a lot of gas is being produced inside them which causes uneasiness and at times makes them cranky. Parents might believe that the red bumps are also a side effect of the gas trouble. This is absolutely not true. Baby acne has nothing to do with gas, this is a hormonal disorder.

If your child gets a lot of red bumps, don’t panic just get an appointment with your child specialist and let him and see and decide whether it is a rash or baby acne. If its acne don’t apply anything funny on the child’s face. Don’t even think about camouflaging the baby acne with makeup.

Each stage in life has to pass by and this will pass by too. After this acne will not be a trouble for your baby it will be a problem only for you teenager. The acne that causes baby acne is passed on by the mother of the child. The acne causing teenage acne is not passed by the mother but is the first symptom that your child is no more a kido and is approaching adulthood.
