Everyone especially the teenagers like to have a clear face without any blemish in the skin. If your blemishes are painful, swollen or if you see more than 10 blemishes on one side of your face, it is always better to get advise from the skin specialist. Acne is a term used for plugged pores. Acne is a common skin condition when the oil secreting glands and the hair follicle in the skin gets blocked and causes bacteria to grow in the pores. The categories of acne are blackheads, whiteheads, pimples as well as deeper lumps like cysts and nodules.

Normally acne appears on the face, neck, shoulders, chest, back, scalp, upper arms and on the legs. Acne does appear from age group varying from 20 to 40. Acne appears on young women due to hormonal changes in their menstrual cycle and sometime due to the usage of cosmetics. The scars which have come on your face, neck etc can be minimized to a great extent and it will come to know by your doctor based on age, medical history and overall health. The other causes are the severity of the scar and the kind of the scar. Lastly, the patient’s tolerance to medications, procedures and therapies may reduce the scars to a maximum extent.

Dermabrasion is a process by which the upper layer of the skin is removed with an electrical machine that wears away the skin. As and when the skin heals, the surface appears smoother and fresher.

Chemical peel is used to help the skin to minimize the external scars, sun damaged skin and irregular pigment. The apex layer of skin is detached by doing the chemical application on the skin. After removing the apex layer of the skin, it forms again and often improving its look.

Collagen injections are injected under the skin to restore the body’s natural collagen that was lost. This injection heals the scars, facial lines and wrinkles. Collagen is a fibrous protein found in the skin.

Laser resurfacing is the use of high energy light to burn the damaged skin. It also reduces the wrinkles and some fine scars.

Punch grafts are small skin grafts used to replace scarred skin. A hole is punched in the skin to remove the scar, and is then replaced with unscarred skin which is normally taken from behind the earlobe. It helps to treat the deep acne scars.

Autologous fat transfer is the transfer of fat taken from another site of the body and injected into the skin. This method is used to heal the nodulocystic acne.

Home remedies are effective to certain mild acne. The juice of cucumber and tomatoes help to tighten up the pores of the skin. Paste of sandalwood, black gram with milk or rose water can be applied like a face pack and washed after few hours gives a good effect. Tea tree oil from Australia and Neem paste from India is quite useful. Gel is an oil free product with moisturizer and seaweed extracts; it is a natural remedy for the acne and scar removal.
