Rosacea Makeup
September 2, 2010

Rosacea is a chronic skin disorder which creates flushing and inflammation on the skin surface. Rosacea flushing occurs mainly on cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. It is mainly caused due to the dilation of blood vessels. Although the real cause for rosacea is not yet been discovered, it is widely believed that there are several factors leading to development of rosacea like change in the climatic conditions, alcoholic habits, taking of hot beverages, and spicy foods. Cosmetics also are one of the reasons behind this disorder.

The appearance of rosacea leads to the disappearance of the tenderness of the skin. The luster and glow of the skin is also lost due to this disorder. This brings in a total withdrawal in a person. People affected with rosacea try to keep themselves away from their usual crowd as they start feeling too conscious of their disorder being obvious. Immediate treatment of this disorder can save a person from turning to be an introvert.

There are several stages in the development of rosacea but two reasons are considered to be of most importance. One is redness with flushing and the other is photo damage. In the initial stages rosacea creates frequent flushing and irritation. Sun damage worsens the condition and affects the support system. This develops burns on the skin and neck. Telangiectasia or spider veins develop in this stage and redness increases. Bumps and pimples start appearing on the face surface with severe inflammation. In the later stages nose also becomes enlarged and severe irritations occur. In many cases water flows from the eyes continuously. This is indeed painful and strenuous leading to acute headache.

Rosacea though considered to be a chronic disease is not an incurable one. There are several treatments that are developed and are in the process of developing time over time including, topical treatment, oral antibiotics, laser treatment, etc. All these treatments help in minimizing the effects of rosacea and in preventing it from spreading further. If rosacea is treated by a well trained and experienced dermatologist, it can be stabilized over a period of time. The process of treatment is slow as skin on the face is a thin skinned and is prone to open surroundings often. Taking into consideration many factors and the reaction each ones skin may tend to respond the treatments are proceeded.

There are several makeup methods especially developed to hide the redness and dilated blood vessels caused by rosacea. Experts in cosmetics have evolved a variety of makeups to bring the natural skin color once again. These makeups are the ideal choice for people who are affected by rosacea. To cover up the ill effects of rosacea they act as a sign of aid. These makeups can also guard them against the sun rays and climatic changes. Generally, rosacea makeups do not contain alcohol or any such items which can cause irritation and affect the skin as skin is the most delicate part of the body

Green makeup is considered to be the best one among other makeups. Many believe that green rosacea makeup can effectively cover the redness caused by rosacea and hide the face in perfection. This type of makeup is available every where in liquid or cream form. Green makeup products are water and rub-off resistant. This helps people from suntan and other burns as this has a cool effect on the skin. There are natural rosacea makeups products which contains natural and mineral components. These products are also ideal for sensitive skins as these makeups will not create any type of irritation. Adding to this, water based and oil based rosacea makeups are also considered to be natural makeups and these are ideal for allergic patients.

Experts suggest several application techniques for rosacea makeup. The most advocated rosacea application technique is to apply the makeup on the skin surface by gently dusting by a sponge. As brushes can create irritation this is the ideal method to apply the rosacea makeup. After the dusting is done with the help of a sponge, foundations can be applied gently. Mineral makeup is also widely suggested by many dermatologists to their patients.

No makeup or technique is suitable to everyone. It differs person to person. Selecting the correct shade from mix of shades to match your skin is the first and very important step in rosacea makeup. As the human skin changes according to climatic conditions, the color used in the summer may not suit in the winter season. Identifying the shade which comes close to your skin color is the first step. A small variation in color or combination also should be checked and applied as the skin on the face being very sensitive has all chances to react quickly. Makeups should be used with intense care so that it does not aggravate the skin.

It is always better to consult a doctor who has treated the rosacea before selecting any rosacea makeup or rosacea application technique. He will be the right person as he can suggest you to select the right product and the appropriate method suitable to you. If an artist has to be selected for makeup, consider their experience in working with rosascea affected people. Inexperienced hands may do a lot of nothings than something. Consulting a dermatologist before a prior appointment with a makeup artist will prove to be essential as the dermatologist will provide a clear guideline for the cosmetics that can be used on the skin.

Dermatologists suggest rosacea patients to apply mineral based makeup. They also give other options like water based and oil free. The green trace in the makeup helps in successfully covering the redness and simultaneously gets it under control. Even after precautions, incase some irritation is felt or a person affected with rosacea experiences burning sensation immediately after the application of makeup then they have to immediately wash the makeup. In any case one does not find a suitable makeup that agrees with the skin, and then a proper suggestion from an experienced dermatologist will save your time and deprivation of trying innumerable products.
