Acne and Rosacea Information

July 27, 2008

Acne is a skin disorder appearing on the oil glands of the skin and hair follicles. The main cause for acne is the action of hormones and other substances. Acne leads to minute openings called pimples which are commonly visible on the face of acne patients. On the other hands Rosacea is an adverse form of acne. Symptoms of Rosacea are a constant red face, frequent blushing or flushing, red papules or pustules on nose, face, cheek or forehead, dry facial skin, red, sore eyelids consisting of papules, swelling of facial areas.

Although the symptoms for both acne and Rosacea appears to be quite similar, both are different skin disorders altogether. Acne constitutes various components like papules, pustules, cysts, nodules, whiteheads and blackheads. Close and careful observation can help distinguishing Rosacea and acne as characteristics of both disorders to be different. Pimples in Rosacea are not very significant as in acne. Rosacea is aggravated when exposed to sun or heat and the face becomes red easily and quickly. Unlike Rosacea is just found on the face where as acne can affect any place like back, chest and shoulders. Both are painful but the pain suffered by acne patients is severe as it appears in any part of our body. Unlike Rosacea is characterized specially on the face and neck areas.

Although both acne and Rosacea appears similar a close comparison differentiates their characteristics. The thread line difference is noticeable only if one takes proper note of all the developments taking place time and on. The treatments for both acne and Rosacea have few common solutions. Isotretinoin and Azelaic Acid are some of the solutions used to treat Rosacea as well as acne and this is effective for both disorders. Acne affects teenage people whereas Rosacea patients are mostly middle and old age people. Many of the treatment methods used for acne are not suitable for Rosacea as these medications contain alcohol which creates irritation for Rosacea affected people. Acne patients being teenagers are more conscious of their looks and so take care instantly, whereas the Rosacea patients though are not ignorant of the fact or the disorders taking place, yet try to be negligent at times.

The inclusions of innumerable common foods like cheese, vanilla, chocolate ,alcohol, spicy and junk foods, hot beverages, sunlight, cold winds, stress, and vigorous exercise are few of the root causes for the development of Rosacea on ones skin. In order to prevent Rosacea from appearing people affected with Rosacea should strictly stick to their diet and environment. In any case if one realizes that a particular food item triggers the flushes then it is advisable to totally stop eating it. Acne affected people are also expected to follow some check in their diet. Especially, food that includes oil, cheese, and fat is better to avoid. Basically a small variation in any of these edibles may also bring in acne. Though acne seems to be less severe sometimes people suffering with this disorder may experience continuous pimples and this leaves scars on the face permanently.

Acne is believed to appear due to hormonal increase and this increase is particularly found in boys as well as in girls attaining the puberty age. Women during their pregnancy stage must take care as they cannot intake severe medicines to eradicate acne problems. In many cases it is a heredity factor. Adding to this tight fitting clothes and sports uniforms, pollution, and unclean style of living also develops acne. Sometimes acne pimples appear in mid ages also. This is due to mental stress and other domestic problems that subside after a small period of time say 10 - 12 days.

Acne and Rosacea are treated by experienced skin specialists. Doctors take the skin type into utmost consideration and then prescribe medicines. Medicines are given for application and for oral intake. Though few of these medicines cause side effects they disappear after regular consumption. Medicines given to pregnant women are very mild. Similarly, some teenagers are also given light medicines. This may take more time than the effective ones. The medicines are changed when patients suffer from persisting pimples. Rosacea affected people are specifically treated with the consultation of dermatologists. They should strictly follow the medication and makeup. Makeups are need to done by experienced artists only. This can be done with the consultation or proper references received from others. The combination medication and makeup will help the Rosacea affected people in getting relief quickly.

Depression is found among affected people in both the disorders. People affected with acne must adhere to wash their face with a mild cleanser twice a day. Washing helps in avoiding pimples. Men need to be very careful while they shave. Similarly, Rosacea affected people also need to maintain cleanliness. Makeups also have to be done with utmost and intense care. Dusting their face with sponge and then applying foundations is advisable. Any irritation found while applying or after some time should be washed off immediately but gently. Kindness shown to your skin without any adulteration of alcohol is the best remedy. Washing their hair regularly helps in both the cases as it is a sign of cleanliness. Soaps should be very mild and the towels used should be very soft. Any harshness on the skin will lead to immediate adverse reaction.

Acne patients can be treated immediately as they are almost teenagers who take the medicines and follow as they want to be relieved at the earliest. While Rosacea patients consume more time as they fall in the middle age group and are much concerned about the expenses it may incur and the side effects. The decision itself is a slow process than the acne patients.

Experts advise that food stuffs that possess a cool or cold nature can help in reducing the heat in the similar way that herbs can do to a Rosacea patient.
