It is a given fact that there exists a cure for every type of disease that exists in this world. It is a different matter all together that man may be unaware of the cure at some point in time but medical science is adamant on tracing down all the possible means of deriving these cures from the core of the earth. This enthusiasm of medical science has fostered many benefits for the general public in the form of convenient medical devices and better tests and treatments that can get us effective pain relief.
MRI scans, ECG machines and the X-ray machines are some of the finest examples of the results of the searching spirit of science. One of the traits of science is that it is never satisfied with where it’s at, rather it always wants to progress and move on to newer dimensions. These machines are the result of the hard labor of so many individuals that have dedicated there lives to develop better medical equipment. Now we find these machines to be available all around the world and used commonly in all most all the good hospitals.
The quality of previously existing devices has gone up and a more user friendly version of most medical devices has been developed. Acucheck, digital thermometers and insulin injections are some the inventions that have made these otherwise difficult tasks to perform relatively easy and very convenient. This is why we find that so many of the treatments that would previously require the patient to go all the way to the hospital can now be undertaken at the patient’s home through the use of these advanced devices.

Many people suffer with the skin condition known as acne or Zits; although it undoubtedly causes distress, a number of topical remedies are available. Research into skin care treatment has been advancing for some time now; gradually more effective topical treatments are being discovered and made available. Although there may seem like a huge range of acne skin care products, they can be broken down into three broad categories:
* Drugstore: Preventative treatment
* Those available at a drugstore or over-the-counter
* Prescription: Dermatologist or Doctor, specialist cream or ointment
Those that fall into the preventative category are based around general skin conditioning to help stop acne from forming; this sector deals with skin creams, lotions and cleansers that can help stop the problem. Whilst many sufferers use these products there are even more who just want to keep their skin clean and conditioned; often this is irrespective of whether or not there is a problem condition. More specialized cleaners are designed in the same way as acne skin care products; they ensure the facial pores (and other areas) remain free of oil. These products prevent the oil from getting trapped in pores and can hamper the growth of bacteria, this can lead to the bad skin condition.
Skin care treatments such as exfoliation skin peels, clean the skin and help control the spread of the condition; most can even be purchased over the Internet in addition to normal outlets. Dead skin cells and other atmospheric pollutants are removed cleaning the pores which reduce the chance of any bacterial growth. Many other acne skin care products have become available over the counter and on the internet; they don’t usually require a prescription. A bacterium that aids the formation of acne is stopped by creams and cleansers that contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid; they are designed to extract the excess oil that bacteria need to promote the development of acne.
Generally it is best to start using this type of product with only a small amount of benzoyl peroxide (less than 5.5 percent is recommended), just to see how the skin reacts; an alternative to this includes products which contain alpha hydroxy acid. As with any type of zit cream, you may need to try a few acne skin care products until you find one that will suit your skin; if none of them work then you would be advised to contact your skin specialist. On-prescription treatments are prescribed by a dermatologist and can include ointments that can be applied on the affected area or oral antibiotics or just any topical ointment.
Your doctor can recommend that in order to extract the contents of the pustules that a small surgical procedure could be carried out; however, sufferers are warned never to attempt this as it could lead to serious skin problems. An alternative that has been shown to work well is hormone therapy; hormonal changes are known to cause acne and such skin care treatments often effective. Science has produced many effective treatments for this unkind condition.

It is not surprising that one of the largest markets in the world of health and beauty is anti-ageing skin care products; this is due primarily to the fact we are all living longer and want to continue looking younger as we age. The skin care industry uses beauty products that increase the synthesis of the protein collagen, the main protein in skin which becomes less elastic as we age; almost 25 percent of the protein in skin is actually collagen. Collagen is a member of another family of substances that aid in reducing the signs of ageing. this group is called antioxidants and apart from their cell repairing ability, they may be able to reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease.
Probably the best known of these anti-oxidants is vitamin C although no-one really knows just how much we should have each day. Skin care treatments that are based on vitamin C, pose the problem of becoming oxidized themselves as they come into contact with air during their usage.
To get around this some skin care treatments are based on derivatives of vitamin C, which are more stable and less expensive. Unfortunately the anti-oxidant products used to replace vitamin C are not as effective but as vitamin E and lipoic acid can both have the same effect; this is not too much of a problem.
The body uses vitamin E as an antioxidant and to increase the natural defense we have against sickness; it helps build resistance against infection like cancer for example. Lipoic acid is also an energy making component of the body, found in every cell; it can also help reduce the aging process which affects the skin.
Other compounds called phytochemicals have proved to be beneficial in the formulation of anti-ageing skin care products; they are removed from various plants. Like lipoic acid, phytochemicals help reduce the occurrence of cancers; these include:
* Prostate Cancer
* Cancer of the Breast
* Cancer of the Bowel
These are some of the most common (and increasingly so) cancers in the world today.
Some B-vitamins like B5, B6 and B12 are also in use for anti-ageing skin care products. This is a vast area that has the potential for many new anti-ageing skin care products and services in the future but research needs to continue. Although current regimes are quite effective, there are many ways to combat the effects of time; there is still a long way to go however, before methods that successfully reduce the effects of age are commonplace.
Hopefully, these challenges will get resolved in due course and better and cheaper anti-ageing skin care products will be produced. Scientific research into anti-aging products is still in the early stages but they should never be relied upon; man-made products may never replace those that are available naturally! Regular sleep patterns, exercise, a good healthy diet and less stress will all contribute to reducing the signs of ageing, for instance!
