Myths Related to Acne


Myth: Acne is essentially a teenage sickness and will not affect once one you step ahead of your adolescence.

Truth: Its true that typically teenagers become the culprits of acne, but that doesn’t mean that once you crosses your adolescence acne will stop following you. Even a fifty year guy can get acne. But the ratio is very low. As only one percent (1%) of people above the age of 50 suffers from it. But in case of teenagers this ratio is 75%. This means that over three out of every four teenage guys/gals suffers become the culprits of acne.

Myth: Dirty skin and poor hygiene can cause acne.

Truth: This is not true; however maintaining the skin clean by recurrently washing off the extra oil from your face will surely help healing the acne. Actually this prevents the skin to get effected from the harmful bacteria that causes acne. So keeping your skin clean is very important. Wash your face with a mild soap and weep off all the extra oil present on your body.

Myth: Chocolate, oily food, wine, pizza, coca-cola presence in the diet can cause acne.

Truth: Scientific studies show that this is moderately true. As eating all these above mentioned foodstuff along with other healthy food making a perfect diet will even help solving the acne problem. But yes if your body is allergic to any of the above mentioned items, it will unquestionably cause some acne to occur. So be vigilant with it.

Myth: Stress can result in acne problems.

Truth: Stress is not directly responsible for acne; on the other hand it may result in worsening the conditions. Having acne itself is stressful. Some medicines to treat stress may result in acne. So, be patient and don’t put yourself under stress.

Myth: Sunbathing will help curing from acne.Acne Myths

Truth: Sunbathing along with the acne may in fact lead to other complications such as skin cancer as sun exposure is a very common cause of skin cancer and wrinkles.

Myth: The stronger is the medicine used for acne the better is the result.

Truth: This is not always true. Harder medicines might case misbalancing in blood circulation and hence even worsening the condition. So always consult a doctor before taking a strong medicine.
