Feline acne is a skin disorder in which comedones or blackheads form on a cat's lower lip, face and chin. This disorder is often triggered by over activity of the enlarged sebaceous glands around the cat's face. Feline acne usually appears as small black pimples that are black heads; later on it is going to become inflamed pustules. Most of the cats often suffer with feline acne as the sebaceous glands that are related to the hair follicles exude the oils. When the sebaceous glands are overworking, then cat will get feline acne. In addition to sebaceous glands block hair follicles and pores and develop the comedones. Although this kind of hair follicles in many cases become infected irritated and swollen. It's not just a teenager thing, because Feline Acne is a relatively common skin problem in cats. It is a skin disorder much like human acne. But there is no known cause of this condition, though stress, poor grooming, and oily skin have all been suspected of contributing to it. Cat Acne has no cure and no remedy, and will remain with the cat for their entire life. Cat Acne occurs when bacteria will infests a hair follicle and it starts to swell, and pus may be released.

This is most noticeable around the chin and lips, and can be bad enough that will create permanent scars and cause lips to swell. In humans, usually acne is linked to hormone levels as well as normal bacteria existence on surface of the skin. There is no association between skin bacteria and hormones, which are not the cause of developing feline acne in cats. There are various possible causes: Poor grooming habits, abnormal composition or creation of sebum that is oily substance or waxy formed by the sebaceous glands inside the skin, blockage of hair follicles if the hair isn't suitably discard, defects in keratin creation, it's a protein, which provides the skin as a protective coating. Generally, feline acne is frequently diagnosed by the characteristic of dirty chin form. To get rid of bacteria infection existence of the chin by using various diagnostic tests can be performed. But, in several cases this kind of tests aren't needed.

Relevant treatment is sufficient for many cases of acne, but severe cases need systemic therapy that is oral. Very gentle cases of feline acnes couldn't be treated. Some of the cases antiseborrheic shampoos that contain benzoyl peroxide are applied to treat mild acne and get rid of excess oils. If the case is more bacterial infection, topical or oral antibiotics will be used to cure acne. In many times, supplementation with full of fat acids are very useful in the treatment for feline acne.
