Adult Acne and Hormones
July 27, 2008

Adult acne is mostly the result of hormonal imbalance. Thus care should be taken that skin should not be exposed to certain chemicals and scorching heat. This avoids production of free radicals.

You always thought that acne is common among teenagers. But acne also occurs to adults. Yes, this is true. Acne caused to adults is due to bacterial infection as caused to young people. How ever, acne in adults occurs in dry skin, normal skin or combination skin. Thus when acne occurs, a person looks much aged due to skin looking dry and harsh. Young people get acne due to oily skin but reverse is the case where acne occurs to adults with dry skin also.

The products that we get for acne in market are mainly for young people. These creams or gels are oil free. Thus it is not suitable for adult acne. As Skin becomes very dry due to use of these creams and cleansers.

Adult acne is mainly caused due to the life style. You have to face the hustle and bustle, hurry and worry to earn, to cook, you have to work hard and sort of. Due to this you are tensed. This leads to hormonal imbalance. If you are a hardcore tea or coffee drinker then you produce a steroid hormone called cortisol. This makes your skin look aged. Smoking is also aid to create adult acne. If you are not health conscious and have diet full of junk food then you will have acne. Apart from this some studies have proved that acne is hereditary. It runs into the families. Milk and milk products are also responsible for acne as derived by some studies.

Due to acne skin produces a chemical called hydrogen peroxide. This chemical leads to production of free radicals. Free radicals are responsible for skin looking aged. Over exposure to sun is also a cause for acne. Cleansing creams mostly have this chemical. Thus before purchase of any such cream or gel contents should be checked properly. Use of such creams will fasten the ageing process of skin and will make it dry.
