Selection of Acne Medicine

Market is flooded with acne medicines due to the growing demands for the same. Today many people especially youngsters face acne problem and they want to solve this problem fast. Thus they take help of medicines. Various types of medicines are found today. They can be categorized taking into consideration the contents they have and their nature.
One important category of acne medicine is Topical Bactericidals. These medicines are mostly in the form of creams and consist of Benzoyl Peroxide. This chemical has bacteria fighting or killing characteristic. It also helps to prevent further growth of acne. Rubbing the cream as per the prescription of doctor is helpful. However excess use makes the skin dry. This is also harmful for hair and eyes thus the contact should be denied. This acne medicine is for mild acne.
Another category is oral medication. These are antibiotics consisting of tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline. But if used for the long time then its effect declines. The bacteria get used to this medicine and then at a point it has no effect on bacterial infection on skin. This acne medicine does not decrease the rate at which sebum is secreted. Thus the over activity of oil glands continue and one is left with clogging of skin thus causing acne.
We buy moisturizers from the market. These consist of chemical called as glycolic acid. Due to this the dead skin cells are destroyed and does not accumulate to clog the skin. These are also called as exfoliating agents as it removes dead skin cells. This acne medicine is good for mild acne.
Topical antibiotics are better than oral antibiotics. As oral antibiotics sometimes lead to drowsiness or nausea. This acne medicine is to be applied externally and thus beneficial. It consists of tetracycline useful for killing the bacteria accumulated in the pores thus causing clog.
The overactive oil glands lead to clogging. To avoid this one such acne medicine is retenoids. These regulate secretion of oil glands. Acutane acne treatment falls under this category. These are oral retenoids. This is helpful when acne is severe.
