There are a lot of treatments available for acne problem and nearly all of them work on the similar basic principle. Commonly treatment of the major acne problems is done by reducing the oil glands, increasing the growth of new skin cells in order to replace the already existing dead skin cells and also combat the infection caused by bacteria. Your dermatologist is the best person to determine what kind of treatment is would suit you the most or would be most appropriate for your given condition. Generally, the severe acne starts to subside and it will be cured within a few weeks and symptoms become worse before they cure.
If your acne problem does not give any reaction to acne treatment with the usage of over-the-counter lotions, which mainly contains salicylic acid, resorcinol, lactic acid or sulfur and benzoyl peroxide, you should consult your doctor for further great form of treatment. There are some strong doctor suggested lotions like Tretinoin or adapalene, which usually contains synthetic Vitamin A, which is responsible for advancing the cell turnover and slow down the hair follicle from becoming blocked with a large amount of oil emissions. The topical antibiotics are useful to remove surplus skin bacteria and the best results are obtained when these are used in a combination.
In general, physician often prescribes oral antibiotics along with topical treatments. As severe or moderate acne is widespread, oral antibiotics are used for a long period of time in order to reduce bacteria and fight against the irritation and to reduce other acne problems. If antibiotics are misused or over managed they may lose their effectiveness and your body becomes opposed to these antibiotics. Overall, the acne treatment becomes useless because antibiotic is not removing the bacteria present in the body.
